Music
Nolan's performance specializations include Latin American, jazz, orchestral, Zimbabwean, Ghanaian, Afro-pop, and rock music. He has performed internationally in La Pasión Según San Marcos by Osvaldo Golijov, with performances in places such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires).
While in Boston, Nolan co-developed an Afro-pop group with other Berklee College of Music students called Marimbira, exploring the combination of marimba, Zimbabwean karimba (a.k.a. mbira), and electric guitar.
Currently, Nolan performs primarily on timbales with Latin music group Clave Caribe, covering genres such as cumbia, salsa, merengue, bachata, Latin rock, pop, bolero, and champeta (which can all be seen on the group's YouTube playlist).
Whenever possible, he travels to Miami and elsewhere to serve the Afro-Cuban religious community as a batá drummer (omo aña) and drummer/singer for cajón ceremonies. He also teaches privately and dabbles in Mexican vihuela. ¡Ahuevo!
